Condolences to local broadcaster fellow colleague and friend Steve Garagiola, who is a fixture in Detroit behind the anchor desk at WDIV and who’s father is Joe Garagiola, the witty baseball broadcaster who also enjoyed success as a Today show regular and game show host, who passed away today (Wednesday) at age 90.
A St. Louis native and Baseball Hall of Famer also wrote several books — and holds a unique place in TV history. He filled in for Johnny Carson on May 14th, 1968, when John Lennon and Paul McCartney guested on the Tonight Show.
